The Profitable Baker: Book Programme
Helping home bakers build a second income stream
Six years ago I was a baker with a wedding cake business.
Then the Pandemic struck, and I was faced with the prospect of having no income coming in.
So I built a business with multiple income streams… one of which was books.
In 2024 I closed my wedding cake business due to illness.
But I had number of income streams, and the books brought in income without me having to do much.
When I’m on holiday
When I’m poorly
Over Christmas and Easter family times.
The income stream from my books has brought me in £23,000 since March 2021.
That’s royalties, not just sales.
Average £350 a month.
and I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved.
And I think it’s time I helped other bakers do the same.
Introducing The Profitable Baker: Book Programme
A six-month, 1:1 programme for home bakers who want to create a published book and a new stream of passive income — with expert guidance every step of the way.
This is not a course. There are no pre-recorded videos to watch at midnight and never finish. This is personalised, hands-on support built entirely around your book idea, your timeline, and your goals.
Your path to published…
6 x 1:1 online sessions with Annie (one per month across six months)
The session outline below is a suggested guide. Because this is a fully personalised programme, the focus of each session may shift depending on where you are, what you need, and how your book is developing. No two bakers’ books are the same — and no two programmes will look exactly alike.
Session 1 — Your Book Concept:
Together we’ll explore your knowledge, find your niche, and define exactly who your book is for — making sure your idea is one that readers will actually want to buy.
Even if you haven’t got a definite idea yet, I can help you work through some ideas, until you arrive at one you’re happy with.
I’ll give you some planning templates to use, so after the session you can start to pull ideas togather and start shaping your book.
We’ll also give some thought to your book launch… I’ll help you to start planning that too.
Session 2 – Your Content & Structure:
Your chapter outline takes shape in this session.
We’ll look at the plans you’ve already made, and I’ll help you build a clear, manageable structure so that when you sit down to write, you always know what comes next.
Session 3 — Your Writing Strategy:
Life is busy, and a baking business doesn’t stop because you’re writing a book.
We’ll see how things are progressing, and I’ll help with any content questions you have.
We’ll also keep an eye on launch plans.
Session 4 — KDP Setup & Formatting:
This is where it gets real. We’ll walk through everything you need to publish on Amazon, covers, formatting, categories, keywords, and pricing.
You don’t need to have finished your writing at this stage, as all our sessions will be recorded just for you, you can revisit when it’s time to get your book pubished.
Session 5 — Your Launch Strategy:
We’ll finalise your launch plans.
However you want to tell the world you’re published, we’ll plan it.. and I’ll guide you with marketing and PR too.
Session 6 — Review & Ongoing Income:
One book is just the beginning. We’ll review your launch, look at how to maximise your ongoing royalties, and plan what comes next… because the best time to think about your next book is right after you’ve published your first.
The investment
Beta price: £200 per month across 6 months, or £1,200 pay in full.
This is a founding client price. Once the beta round is complete and the first Book Programme alumni have their books published, this programme will increase in price.
Only 3 spaces available
Three individual spaces, this isn’t a group programme, it’s one to one support, for YOUR book. And it’s intentionally small. Because real results require real attention, and I’m committed to giving each baker on this programme everything they need to get their book finished, published, and selling.
When these three spaces are filled, this programme closes.
BONUS!!
As well as working with me on your alternative income stream, you’ll want to make sure your principal one is running smoothly.
So you’ll have membership of the Academy included for the 6 months you are in the programme, with access to all training and resources.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to have a book idea already?
Not at all. If you have a vague sense of what you’d like to write about but no clear direction yet, that’s exactly what Session 1 is for. We’ll work together to find a book concept that suits your knowledge, your audience, and the market.
I’m not a very good writer — I don’t think I’d be able to write a whole book. How could you help?
This is one of the most common things I hear — and it’s almost never true. The bakers who say they can’t write are usually the same bakers who send warm, helpful replies to their customers, explain techniques clearly to beginners, and know their subject inside out. That is writing. It just doesn’t feel like it yet.
You don’t need to be a literary genius to write a book that sells. You need to know your subject, care about your reader, and be willing to show up and do the work — and I’ll be with you every step of the way to help you do exactly that.
Here’s how the programme supports you practically:
-
In Session 2 we build your chapter outline together, so you always know what you’re writing next and never face a blank page with no direction
-
In Session 3 we create a writing plan that fits around your baking schedule — broken into small, manageable chunks rather than intimidating word count targets
-
Between sessions, you can share drafts with me for feedback, so nothing feels like it has to be perfect before anyone sees it
-
And throughout the whole six months, I’m in your corner — answering questions, keeping you motivated, and reminding you why you started
The bakers who finish their books aren’t the ones who were naturally gifted writers. They’re the ones who decided to start.
What kind of book could I write?
The possibilities are wider than most bakers realise. Recipe books are the obvious choice, but baking books also include technique guides, business books for other bakers, allergy-friendly baking guides, sourdough deep-dives, books for specific occasions, and much more. If you’re unsure, we’ll figure it out together in Session 1.
How quickly could my book be published? Could I have it ready in time for Christmas?
The honest answer is: it depends on you. The programme is designed to run across six months, with one session per month — so if you start now, the full programme takes you through to the end of the year. However, some bakers will write faster than others, and the session structure can flex to reflect that. If Christmas is your goal, that’s absolutely something we can work toward together and build your writing plan around from Session 1. What I’d say is this — a book that’s well written, properly structured, and thoughtfully launched will always outperform one that was rushed to hit a date. We’ll be honest with each other about what’s realistic for your specific book, and make the best decision for you from there.
How much time will I need to commit each month?
Beyond our monthly 1:1 session (roughly 60–90 minutes), you’ll need to set aside time to write between calls. How much depends on your book and your pace, but realistically a few hours per week will keep you on track. We’ll build a realistic writing plan around your baking schedule in Session 3.
Do I need any technical knowledge to publish on KDP?
None whatsoever. KDP (Amazon’s self-publishing platform) is designed to be used by everyday people, and Session 4 is dedicated entirely to walking you through everything — formatting, cover creation, categories, keywords, pricing, and going live. You’ll finish that session knowing exactly what to do.
Will there be any extra costs involved in publishing?
Publishing on KDP is free — there are no upfront fees to list your book on Amazon in either Kindle or paperback format. Amazon takes a percentage of each sale as their royalty cut, but you pay nothing to publish. The only potential costs outside of this programme would be if you choose to hire a professional editor or proofreader, commission bespoke cover design, or invest in paid advertising — none of which are required, and none of which are included in this programme. I’ll always point you toward the free and low-cost options first.
Will my book definitely become a bestseller?
I can’t guarantee that — and anyone who does is not being honest with you. What I can guarantee is that you’ll have a properly written, professionally published book on Amazon, launched with a solid strategy, giving it the best possible chance of finding its readers. My own book reached #1… I’ll share everything I did to make that happen.
How much can I realistically earn from a book?
Royalties vary enormously depending on your niche, your pricing, and how well your book is received. Some authors earn £50 a month; others earn several hundred. My highest earning single month was over £700 and my lowest just under £100, and I’ve earned nearly £23,000 since 2021. I’ll always be honest with you about realistic expectations, this is a long-term income stream, not an overnight windfall.
Is this only for bakers who already have a following or an audience?
An existing audience helps, but it isn’t essential. Plenty of books on KDP find their readers entirely through Amazon search — which is why getting your keywords, categories, and description right (all covered in Session 4) matters so much.
What happens if life gets in the way and I fall behind?
Life happens — especially when you’re running a baking business. The monthly session structure gives us natural flexibility, and we’ll adjust your plan together if you need more time on a particular stage. The goal is a finished, published book — not a rigid deadline that sets you up to fail.
Can I apply if I’m not a member of The Profitable Baker Academy?
Absolutely. This programme is open to any home baker, regardless of whether you’re an Academy member. If you’re interested in the Academy too, we can chat about that — but it’s not a requirement.
What happens after I click apply?
You’ll hear from me within 48 hours. We’ll have a short, no-pressure conversation to make sure the programme is the right fit for you and answer any questions you have before you commit. If we’re both happy it’s a good match, we’ll confirm your place and get started.
What’s not included
This programme is focused on what matters most: helping you write, publish, and launch a book that earns. To keep that focus clear, the following are outside the scope of the programme:
-
Professional editing or proofreading — I’ll give feedback on your drafts, but a final proofread before publishing is your responsibility
-
Cover design or artwork — KDP has a free cover creator tool which we’ll walk through together, but bespoke graphic design is not included
-
Photography or food styling — if your book includes images, sourcing and producing those is down to you
-
Ghostwriting — I will guide, support, and feedback every step of the way, but the writing itself is yours to do
-
Amazon advertising or paid promotion — your launch strategy will focus on organic methods; paid ads are not covered
-
Audiobook production — this programme covers Kindle and paperback publishing only
-
Ongoing support after the six months — the programme has a clear end point, though alumni options may be available in future
-
Guaranteed sales or income — I can give you every tool and strategy I use myself, but results depend on your book, your niche, and your effort
