Kind words about Annie…
Annie is an absolute legend – the positivity and love for what she does (and what the community stands for) shines through.

About the HBBCUKgroup:
Without the fantastic information this group provides I would never have had the confidence to start my business.

About the HBBCUKgroup:
It was invaluable when setting up my business just over a year ago. It helped me work out what steps I needed to take and particularly with the EHO inspection. I also find that with home baking being quite a lonely job, it feels like you still have colleagues you can ask for advice and who understand your issues, struggles and experiences.

About Annie Bennett
Previously a full time teacher and headteacher, Annie began her baking business, Leading Lady Cakes, in 2014. After a few years running her business alongside her teaching commitments, Annie left full time teaching in 2019. Since then her business has gone from strength to strength, with orders being placed up to 2 years in advance. She works closely with other wedding suppliers, and has much experience in the world of baking and weddings.
As well as making wedding cakes, she now uses her teaching skills to teach the business of home baking. She started The Home Baking Business Comunity UK group in 2020, which now has a membership of over 8,000. She has recently started a group for wedding cake makers, The Wedding Cake Business Group UK, and also runs a paid membership, The Home Baking Professionals Society.
She has published and sold a range of books for home baking businesses, and has sold over 2000 copies since her first publication in 2021. Her most popular title, The Home Baking Business Food Hygiene Record Book, has sold over 1000 copies, and is regularly at the number 1 spot of the home business category on Amazon. The book is also loved by EHOs and those that have seen it, recommend it!
She is also regularly featured in the national media, having been featured in Hello, Metro, the BBC and Woman Magazine and most recently a full page feature in prima Magazine.
Annie is not only a fully qualified and experienced teacher of 30 years, but also has qualifications in bookkeeping, tax assessment and payroll. Out of the kitchen, and quite often within it, she is a fully trained operatic soprano, which was the inspiration for the name of her baking business. She has sung the leading roles of Carmen and Tosca and many other roles from Puccini, Mozart, Donizetti and Verdi, and being a talented seamstress has also made the costumes for the various roles she has sung. She lives in East Sussex with her two gorgeous daughters and is very likely to be increasing her cat count from two to many within the foreseeable future.
